Just 69 meters less than Mount Aconcagua, the Ojos del Salado volcano allows to enjoy the peace and loneliness of the mountains in an uncrowded place. Cold and hot water, cold and thin air, hot sun, this place is just for you.
ITINERARY “DAY BY DAY”.
DAY 1: COPIAPO – LAGUNA SANTA ROSA (3.762 M).
Reception at Copiapo airport or your Hotel in Copiapo or Caldera. At noon, briefing with the lead guide to review itineraries and check equipment. After lunch we head to the Paipote Ravine to reach the Laguna Santa Rosa, in the southwest side of the Maricunga Salt Flat. Walk around for see the typical fauna of the place. Night in Camp or refuge depending on availability. (L, D)
DAY 2: LAGUNA SANTA ROSA – 7 HERMANOS (4.780 M) - LAGUNA VERDE (4.350 M).
Acclimatization hiking to the summit of Mount 7 Hermanos. After lunch we move to the Laguna Verde, place where we can take a bath in the natural hot springs of the shore. Night in Claudio Lucero Refuge or Camp, according on availability. All meals included.
DAY 3: LAGUNA VERDE – MOUNT MULAS MUERTAS (5.897 MSNM) - LAGUNA VERDE.
We continue with the acclimatization, reaching more altitude. Hiking to the Mount Mulas Muertas and come back to the camp. Night in Claudio Lucero Refuge or Camp, according on availability. All meals included.
DAY 4: LAGUNA VERDE – ATACAMA BASE CAMP (5.200 M)
Hiking around Laguna Verde in the morning. After lunch we move to the Atacama Refuge in the Base Camp. Night in Atacama Refuge or Camp, according on availability. All meals included.
DAY 5: ATACAMA BASE CAMP – TEJOS HIGH CAMP (5.830 M) - ATACAMA BASE CAMP.
We carry our personal and common equipment towards Tejos Refuge, in order to prepare the next days and continue with the acclimatization. Night in Atacama Refuge or Camp, according on availability. All meals included.
DAY 6: ATACAMA BASE CAMP – TEJOS HIGH CAMP (5.830 M).
This time we move with the rest of our necessary equipment to the high camp and stay there. Night in Tejos Refuge or Camp, according on availability. All meals included.
DAY 7: TEJOS HIGH CAMP – OJOS DEL SALADO SUMMIT (6.893 M) – ATACAMA BASE CAMP.
This is the hardest day. We wake up early (04:00 hrs) with low temperature and have to climb more than 1000 meters, crossing a short tongue of hard snow and in the last part, after the crater, we do some of rock climbing. Night in Atacama Refuge or Camp, according on availability. All meals included.
DAY 8: SECOND SUMMIT ATTEMP OR ATACAMA BASE CAMP – CALDERA.
Security day for a possible second summit attempt. If we had success yesterday, we come back to Caldera. Night in Refuge or Camp, according on availability, or in 3 stars Hotel in Caldera. All meals included.
DAY 9: EXTRA SECURITY DAY.
This program can be done either on a PRIVATE SERVICE basis or on a COLECTIVE SERVICE basis.
PRIVATE SERVICES depart at clients’ best convenience and you go just with your group. Prices for these programs are subject to the number of booked clients. PRIVATE SERVICES INCLUDE BILINGUAL guide (English/Spanish).
COLECTIVE SERVICES require a minimum of 3 passengers in order to be confirmed and they run on the dates established in our catalogue. COLECTIVE SERVICES INCLUDE BILINGUAL guide (English/Spanish).
